Performers in 2012

Steve DiBonaventura - Two of Swarthmore's most talented performers.  Steve and Jim will dazzle you with their skills on banjo and guitar.  They will behere to play some of their jazz, pop and standards.

Art Miron and Millard Brown- “Bald is Beautiful” - Art Miron and Millard Brown of Bald Is Beautiful present finely crafted songs from the 'Americana Tradition'---a mix of roots country, folk, pop and singer-songwriter tunes.

The Dollar Band - These four guys are part time musicians who love to play music. They cover vintage acoustic rock (Dead, Neil Young, etc.) and some fun with old-time jam classics (St. Anne's Reel, Cuckoo's Nest, etc). They also have occasional originals in case an American Idol judge is out there.

Synthesis - "Synthesis is a blend of several cultures unified in one ensemble, presenting the best in Latin music. The group explores various Latin American and Afro-Caribbean rhythms encompassing different musical and cultural backgrounds of South and Central America, Cuba, the Caribbean, Brazil, Mexico and Puerto Rico. The unique style of synthesis rarely leaves audiences sitting, and includes the infectious rhythms of island music such as Calypso, Reggae, afrocuban(salsa) and merengue, and the exotic beats of Bossa, samba, lambada and cumbia".

The Trolley Stoppers - The Trolley Stoppers are one of our favorite a capella groups.  Their performance includes a little barbershop and a little doo-wop, some music from recent years and some from fifty or a hundred years ago. The Beatles, Billy Joel, and Tears for Fears are all in their repertoire.  Who knows what they might sing next?  They'll  try anything, as long as it has a good tune, appealing harmonies, interesting lyrics—and they enjoy singing it.

Gelman and Murray - They have performed for us many times before and this is one of the last chances to hear them before they head off to college next year.  Their mature jazz sounds are amazing.  Come hear them play some great jazz and standards on guitar and bass.

And more to come….
